The Seattle Community Police Commission has recommended the city council reject the new police contract.
At this meeting, we’ll talk about many of the ways we’ve identified the contract rolls back police accountability reforms.
We support officers getting fair wages, but the new contract would give up dozens of the police reforms the Community won in the historic Police Accountability System Legislation just last year.
What key reforms are we talking about? When there is officer misconduct, that the system works better, is open to the public, ensures accountability, and that discipline is upheld.
We want to hear your thoughts. We need to stand together to protect the police accountability system.
We thank 206 Zulu for allowing us to have the space to do this important work.
