The lost history of Mexica Calafia Zulus
Seven Years ago I went to Mexico to start a project with my brother Neo Angel We were both already members of Calafia Zulu and we wanted to bring Calafia to Mexico but We ran into a small problem Zulu nation would not allow us to bring our chapter to Mexico they wanted us to create Mexico Own identity. So we spoke to our Zulu King Lastman And we came up with an alternative plan the plan was to disguise calafia under the name of Mexica Zulu. Neo Did not want to be in charge of Mexica because he didn’t want his reputation as a Bboy to affect the Mexica name. The great leader that he is he stepped aside and we let Yoruk Esparza and Kaozz rest in peace run the chapter.
We didn’t come up with the name Mexica right away, Actually Frank was teaching us about the history of Mexico so we can know what we’re getting into and not start a chapter without knowing true history. Neo Angel was the one that decided to name it Mexica and Frank agreed I was only here to make sure everything went correctly and that all the Zulu regulations and policies were in effect they made the chapter I watched over it.
We decided to get people all around Mexico that were already putting work into their communities and had a great name in the hiphop community as well. So recruited Mexica members from all around Mexico you can call us the super crew of community work. Because we had members from all around Mexico putting real work and if you wanted to be Mexica you really had to do something in the community your reputation as a dancer or a hip-hop artist was not enough. After the plan was in fact we start the first meeting we chose our members and we started to put work under the name Mexica Zulu. At the time uzn Wanted to collect dues and the people from Mexico couldn’t afford it so we arranged with them to get the dues waved. And the registration at a lower price. Today we will celebrate the anniversary of Mexica Zulu, Through all our ups and downs we are still here and still strong part of the community and coming back even stronger but for our anniversary I have decided along with others to change the name to the original name it was supposed to be. Calafia Zulu Mexica A calafia chapter from Mexico now under the new umbrella other Zulu union we can now accomplish our goal seven years it’s been and I have lost a dear friend but we celebrate with you accomplish the goals that we created for a south today because we are still here Zulu’s for life. We We would like to give thanks to our brother Kickelu Alanis Who along with his family took care of Mexica and maintenance it and make sure that the name live done without him we would not be here today thank you brother And it’s an honor to have you as president.
There also was another member of Calafia Zulu already in Mexico also and had a big part in the start of this chapter is my brother Jorge Pandarock Benitez Leonardo who earned his way before coming to Mexico.
